Re: Question aboutt if there will be a signal

So, you want to use a set-up digital tuner to convert HDTV to a NTSC signal that your dvd recorder's tuner can record, and don't need this HDTV tuner's own recording capability? Yes, you can do that. I do something similar but use the RCA connections for better video signal quality. Don't forget tha...

Re: 2TB limitation

I gave it a good try, using partitioning and different format types.

Didn't work. All my four boxes lock up when media larger than 2 T are plugged in.

Sales come up every few months, I keep my eyes open and get a new drive a couple times a year, since they tend to fill up with shows. (Pack rat!)

Re: Channel numbers

Without any experience with cable service and these boxes, is it possible to manually scan only the channel frequencies that are unlocked?

I suppose it would be a lot of note-taking and work to do that...

Re: Any issues with Long media files?

Haha! I have about 300 meg of mp4s on each of my 150s, each file copied from VHS recordings I made in the 80s and 90s, and many later direct recordings to mp4 from broadcasts. The players are ok if the files are intact. Since my goal was to remove a substantial number of VHS media from my library, I...

Re: HW180STB can't watch recordings

There were some discussions in the 150 section about broadcast signal strength being an issue for those units. Essentially, there was a sweet spot where strong signals caused problems with reception on the pvr, especially while recording, but also with EPG data and vanishing recording schedules. Mov...

Re: Any issues with Long media files?

Yes, the media player can't cope with syncing issues that constantly updated computer programs can work around.

Yes, my 150 box won't play long mp4 and other media files.

If you split the files into shorter segments, the syncing issues may be smaller, and the files will play one after the other.

Re: HW180STB can't watch recordings

There might be a problem with recording itself, maybe only 1-2 seconds were recorded.

While recording, press info. This will provide stats for data rate, and capacity (in time and data) of the drive.
If signal info appears, the machine stopped recording.

I used to have one of those in-line amplifier 25 years ago, from radio shack. I'm sure that's the ticket for your amplifying needs.

Re: How to pause while recording?

No, that kind of "pausing" is beyond this kind of machine. Capturing the video stream is tricky enough, complex re-syncing on the fly is definitely out of the programmer's wheelhouse. Just think about how long that first pause takes in time-shift mode. ;) There are posts here about editing ads out o...

Re: HW180STB Recording

Chase-play (funny, never heard that term but it fits) works on my 150s by pushing [PLAY] or [PAUSE] (and rewinding to earlier points in the ongoing recording). Shuffling back and forth a lot in an ongoing recording makes mid-recording failures more likely for me, especially on a fuller hard drive or...
