Have you formatted using the USB menu, or from Windows? I've noticed that drives not formatted with the USB menu 'Format' command do not work, unless you label the drive/partition as: 123456789 (The default name given to formatted drives.) Hope this helps.

Did you attempt format it within the USB menu? One work-around may be to format the drive as NTFS in Windows and label the drive ' 123456789 '. [no quotes] (This works for flash drives for me.) You may also try splitting the drive in smaller partitions and naming one partition ' 123456789 ' and see ...

I had the same problem after formatting a flash drive in windows as NTFS. Try re-labeling your NTFS volume as ' 123456789 ' (no quotes), which is the default name given when you 'format' a USB drive from within the USB menu. It works on flash with NTFS format, have not tested with an external HDD ye...
