RAID Recovery

Postby wadingpool » June 8th, 2016, 5:44 pm

My HFR2-S3B enclosure had a failure today, with the topmost drive's error and "Rebuild" lights coming on. The enclosure has 4 drives in a RAID 5 configuration. It was turned off briefly to physically examine the drive, then the same drive was returned to its slot.

After powering on the enclosure, all 4 drives' error lights are on along with "Rebuild". It does not look or sound like anything is happening.

Is this enclosure damaged? Or is the RAID 5 array corrupted?

if you could not access the raid 5 array when the top most driver had error
then you got a raid array corruption

if you are using regular desktop hard drives, they are only good for Raid 0, 1 and 10
