Media sonic now disconnecting constantly

Post by sadbttru »

Hello,

I recently had my mediasonic start to disconnect and reconnect constantly. I have changed the power settings but that did not work. I am running the latest macOS (Catalina) on a 2012 Mac mini. Hope someone here can help!!

Usually is it was working fine before
and all of sudden this happens
it might be a problem with one of the hard drives
try removing all of your hard drives and test 1 at a time in slot #1
if all works in slot #1
then start with 1 drive, if no disconnect happening
add 2nd drive and test, and so on

Great idea! I should have thought of that. That seems to have worked. Now it just seems to be very slow when copying between hd in the box.

Do you have access to a Windows PC?
There is a software to check Hard drive health ( No Mac version )

I found my Seagate 4tb was the culprit. I have a windows pc as well but I will have to work on a way to hook it up and test it. Checked the warranty expired 2017. So no luck there. The last two drives to fail were seagate so might be a lesson there.

Thanks so much for the help!
