Drive requirements for Raid-5

Postby b8mnr54 » September 30th, 2017, 10:22 pm

Can I use Seagate Barracuda ST5000DM000 in a raid-5 array in the HFR2-SU3S2 PRORAID 4 Bay unit? I just ordered and have not received anything yet.

Do I need to cancel the drives and find some specifically stating NAS or Enterprise, or will these work?

Seagate Barracuda ST5000DM000 are regular desktop drives. They will be ok, if using software Raid 5
but since our enclosure have build in Hardware Raid. Regular Desktop drives are not recommended. They will work, but you don't know when they will give you Raid array corruption, which then you won't be able to rebuild
