USB 3.0 vs eSATA for CentOS 7.2

Postby doodoos » March 14th, 2018, 10:25 am

I'm purchasing an H82-SU3S2 and am looking to connect 8 drives to a CentOS 7.2 server. I'm trying to decide between USB 3.0 and eSATA. I've seen the recommendations in the forum that for eSATA, I should use the controller card that has the Silicon Image chipset.

But stepping back, would USB or eSATA be the better option?

I'm planning to use these drives in an mdadm RAID 5 array.

Thanks in advance!
