USB 3.0 and 8 drives

Will I be able to see all 8 drives if I use USB3?

I bought a specific eSATA card in order to see all 8 drives, but using that card with Windows Server 2012R2 has been pretty flaky and there don't seem to be any "modern" eSATA cards that have 2012R2 drivers. My motherboard has USB3 drivers that work with 2012R2, so I'd like to try USB3...just don't know if it'll see all 8 drives in this box without additional configuration.

The next obvious question is: will I lose drive / partition info when I move the box from the eSATA controller to USB3.0?

Thanks!

USB does not need port multiplier, so yes will see all 8 drives.
the eSata card we recommend is this one https://www.amazon.com/Syba-eSATA-Contr ... ds=sil3132

each port will support 8 drives. Will work with 2012 Sever

using either USB or eSata does not affect your drive partition

Thank you very much! I'll use USB 3.0 in that case.

If you are using a Sil3132 card to see all 8 drives, then I am on Server 2012 with this chip and Rock Solid.

Sil3132 do not have a server 2012 driver, however there is way to mod Win 7 64 bit driver ini file to get it installed into server 2012. just Google "sil3132 server 2008" . I use the same method to install into
Server 2012. I didn't resign the driver myself but only let windows warn me the Driver signature is not correct during installation and accept the warning.
