HFR2-S3B 32-Bit O/S

Postby Late Nite Larry » December 15th, 2010, 1:39 am

I have an HP EX-475 media smart server and it runs on the Microsoft WHS 32-bit O/S.

The user manual for the HFR2-S3B states the following:
"When the total capacity is more than 2TB, OS of 64bit is required. When the total capacity is
less than 2TB, OS of 32/64bit is required."

I would like to use 4 drives of 8-TB(JBOD) capacity with the eSATA port multiplier functionality of
my Home Server; My question is, do the constraints of the 32-Bit O/S also apply to the Windows
Home Server O/S?

Hi,
For WHS, you should get the non raid model HF2-SU2S2. Since WHS has its own fault tolerance.
So you simply add each drive to the whs pool. I know we have a customer that have 5 of these 4 bays connected to his HP Mediasmart Server.
