use with existing encrypted raid

I have an existing zfs raid6 array of 4x WD 3TB red drives that currently sits inside a Linux desktop. I want to replace the desktop by a NUC running Linux and transition the HDDs into an external encolsure. NUCs seem to have only USB3 so I need to use that. I'm basically here looking for a confirmation that if I stick 4 existing HDDs into an enclosure (say HF2-SU3S2) and connect it to a Linux NUC, the kernel will be able to see and address the 4 HDDs independently (/dev/disk/...), so that the NUC can run the zfs array itself. Also, I hope the disks can be used as they are and don't need formatting. I realize the latency will be slower than having the enclosure run the array (e.g. with an HFR2) but that's ok by me.
